# Value Chain

Helps you understand how clearly the business sees its customer, sells the promised value, and is ready to grow without losing quality.

## Key facts

- **Categories:** 4
- **Questions:** 12
- **Who to ask:** CEO, founder, COO, CPO, Head of Growth, or another executive who sees the customer, product, sales, delivery, and economics
- **Topic:** Processes and work formats

## When to run it

The business is preparing to scale, but you feel the connection with the customer is being lost. Sales promises one thing, production delivers another, and support takes the heat for everyone. The survey will help you see exactly where the customer value delivery chain breaks, through the eyes of the employees.

## What it will show

- **Customer and real value:** How well the company has proven exactly who it creates value for, what job it solves, and what confirms the value for the customer.
- **Promise and the path to purchase:** Checks how well the promise, differentiation, price, and path to purchase turn customer interest into a decision to pay.
- **Value delivery:** Checks whether the product and the customer’s first experience lead to the promised result.
- **Economics and scale:** Checks whether economics, operations, and quality hold up as volume grows.

## Example questions

- How precisely do you know who your primary customer is?
  - **What it measures:** Determine whether the company has a priority segment that is distinct from a broad audience and confirmed by real customer signals.
  - **Scale endpoints:** We have not yet chosen a primary customer: we describe our audience broadly — The primary customer is validated by data, and we make decisions with a focus on them
  - **Open-ended clarification:** Which customer groups are currently blended into this broad audience, and what is missing to choose the primary one?
- How well has it been validated that customers understand your promise the way you intended?
  - **What it measures:** Check whether the clarity of the value proposition in the customer’s language has been proven: does the customer understand the promised value, the usage situation, and the connection to their own problem?
  - **Scale endpoints:** The promise was formulated within the team, and we haven't checked if customers understand it. — Understanding of the promise is constantly checked: customers consistently connect it to their own task.
  - **Open-ended clarification:** How is this promise currently worded, and is there any doubt that customers read it the same way?
- How well do you know the customer’s path to first value from the product?
  - **What it measures:** Check whether the company knows the repeatable steps through which a customer reaches the first tangible value, and what confirms this.
  - **Scale endpoints:** The customer’s path to first value has not yet been described — The path to first value is actively managed: steps, metrics, and exceptions are reviewed regularly
  - **Open-ended clarification:** At what point do you think the customer first gets value, and what about the path to it is still unknown?

## What's in the report

The report will show whether employees understand actual customer needs, how they rate the sales process, the quality of delivering the product or service to the end consumer, and whether they see barriers to economic efficiency and future scaling.
